Award Winning Care
On April 10th, the American Burn Association presented The Barbara Knothe Burn Therapist Achievement Award to Rebekah Allely, OT from MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Rebekah has dedicated over 30 years of her professional career to being an occupational therapist for The Burn Center at MedStar WHC. Over the last 20 years, she has given countless hours outside of work managing aftercare programs.
Rebekah’s work with Bert W Martin Burn Survivors Retreat, World Burn Congress, SOAR, an image enhancement program, adaptive sports programs, and peer programs have profoundly impacted the recovery process for burn survivors. All these programs have been funded by the DC Firefighters Burn Foundation, but they would not have been possible without Rebekah’s selfless dedication to her patients. Please join us in congratulating Rebekah on this well-deserved recognition.
The Barbara Knothe Burn Therapist Achievement Award commemorates the spirit and commitment of Barbara Knothe, MOT, OTR/L, CHT, who dedicated more than 20 years of service to burn rehabilitation. She was an invaluable clinical instructor, mentor, teacher and clinician. This lifetime achievement award is dedicated in her memory to active burn therapists who embody the same drive and commitment. This memorial award serves as an active foundation and inspiration for physical and occupational therapists to be both clinical and research-based in their daily practices and to serve as a resource for developing burn therapists to achieve their fullest potential.
